Surplus Equipment and Supplies
The Surplus Inventory Program allows users to give away or find equipment, supplies, and furniture from the laboratory or office. All items posted here are for free to UCSB staff, faculty, and students for use on campus.
We have built in an approval system to help users navigate the steps to properly exchange equipment. The person wanting to post an item fills out a simple web form providing the necessary information. Once the person posting submits this information a chain of automatic notification emails is started.
This program was initially inspired by the Laboratory Resource And Technical Staff (LabRATS) Program. Currently the program is run in partnership between LabRATS, Business Services, Central Stores, the campus Materiel Manager, Environmental Health and Safety, and the Campus Change Agent Team on Sustainable Purchasing.
